An individual who contaminated candy with sedative and distributed them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offenses against two children aged nine and 10.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at the location in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the courthouse on recently.
However, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was held in detention before a subsequent court date on late November.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She stated his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer program which he managed.
The defendant played a "candy game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the next day.
She stated the defendant had been able to explain this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about the activities, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."
The legal counsel explained materials including baby oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his family member alerted the authorities about his worries.
She stated Ruben went on to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"The police had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the events.
The prosecutor said the minors were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member notified the law enforcement once more.
She said the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a area of five children.
